This is a awesome story I have always liked. I first heard it my sophomore year in high school. We were on our way to our final 4 game, for state playoffs in Basketball. My coach told everyone to sit down on the bus and to lesson to this. It was from a former coach for the NBA. He was a motivation speaker also. He compared this story to our life in sports and how we shouldn't get down on our self's when we mess up. How we need to let that play go and go get the next one. It really hit me and its all ways stuck with me. Not only for sports but also for my life.
Here's the story......
One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. they all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.
At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then,to everyone’s amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well, and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer’s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up!
The Lord Loves us and wants us to be happy. We are here to learn and grow. Sometimes that can be hard. So hard that we fall, and need help up. That is why Christ loves us so much, he gave his life for us. He gave us his example as well. Christ was tempted just like we are. but he never gave in. He knows how to over come it all. That is why he's able to help us so much. He knows just what were going through.
I know I have had things in my life, when I stop and think, why is this so hard, why is this happening to me. But there is always light at the end of the hole. We just cant let those bad things happening to us, get to us. Or even at times the people around us. Just take everything with a smile and a open heart, and shake it off.
